New Zealand's Top Golf Courses - South Island

New Zealand’s top Golf Courses in the South Island are very different to those in the north. With different weather, scenery and vegetation, they almost feel like you’re in a different country to the North Island. The scenery of the Southern Alps will take your breath away whether you play at the Clearwater Resort or Terrace Downs in Canterbury or the Millbrook Resort and Jacks Point at Queenstown. Designed by golfers, for golfers, the golf courses of the South Island of New Zealand are, without doubt, set in some of the most beautiful golfing scenery in the world.

Clearwater, designed by John Darby in consultation with New Zealand golfing legend, Sir Bob Charles, is home to the New Zealand PGA Championship.

With water in play on fourteen holes, the course features lakes, tussock and marram grass that, with neatly manicured bent grass fairways and greens, leave it looking uniquely like a cross between an Old World links and an American parkland course.

Playable year-round, the course meanders around a succession of spring fed lakes and trout filled streams, with uninterrupted views of the spectacular Southern Alps.
