Guided New Zealand Fishing & Hunting

Freshwater or salt, New Zealand is an angler's paradise, offering some of the best opportunities for fishing in beautiful, isolated and pristine locations.

TNZ_Image14.jpgInland, New Zealand's crystal clear waters, uncrowded rivers and lakes offer exciting opportunities for trout fishing - trophy sized browns and rainbows are legendary.

Accessing back country by either helicopter or four wheel drive vehicle, your experienced guides will take you to some of the world’s finest waterways. New Zealand is a wild trout fishery and a ‘catch and release’ approach is promoted to conserve resources.

New Zealand was put on the big-game fishing map after a visit by legendary American writer Zane Grey in the 1920s. Excellent salt-water game can be found off the East Coast of the North Island. Catches include tuna, blue and striped marlin, yellowtail kingfish and shark.

New Zealand is TNZ Image24.jpgalso an exciting destination for some of the finest trophy hunting in the world. With indescribable scenery as your backdrop, Lookout Point’s preferred hunting outfitters can guide you in pursuit of your preferred trophy. The main big game animals in New Zealand are tahr, chamois and deer (including red, fallow and sika). In addition to these large game animals, hunters can also track alpine goat, elk, wild sheep and pigs.

Helicopters are widely used to position hunters in New Zealand’s spectacular mountain country.
Hunting begins in early March and ends in late August although summer hunts can be planned for various species. The rut for most animals is typically March through to the end of June.

New Zealand also offers fine waterfowl and upland game bird hunting. Game birds include pheasant, partridge and quail. Waterfowl include ducks (paradise, mallard, shoveler and grey), black swan and Canada geese.

Lookout Point also specialise in planning activities and excursions for non-hunters in your party.

Please contact us so we can work with you to design the ultimate New Zealand fishing or hunting vacation.
